Former University of Oklahoma, Dallas Cowboy coach and Hall of Famer Barry Switzer is a hero to dog lovers.
It seems Switzer, an animal rights proponent, was at a strip mall in Norman, Okla., and saw a Rottweiler puppy tied to a seat with a thick rope in an empty van. The windows were down but Switzer told Kevin Sherrington of the Dallas Morning News that the van was still hot.
The dog apparently looked at Switzer with a silent plea of help.
Switzer found the owner and bought the puppy for $100. He then took it to the vet for shots, a dip and a toenail clipping, a $400 spa treatment.
Stella is his new girl.
Courtney Spradlin, take note of this: A football coach who is probably as big a dog lover as you.
In any case, Switzer's career may have gone to the dogs, but he loves it.
