The incredible magical run of the Los Angeles Dodgers was slowed by the Philadephia Phillies on Sunday.
Just a speed bump for a speeding freight train.
The Dodgers had compiled a record of 42-8 in their last 50 games, the best such streak since 1942 and only the second since 1900. They had won 10 straight games, 12 straight one-run games and 30 wins in a row when scoring first.
When the last Major League team was so hot, almost every game was played in daytime, there was no cross-country travel, no artificial surfaces and wool uniforms.
The Dodgers were 12 games below .500 in May. Now they are 21 games above it.
Dodger blue is now Dodger red hot.
The big question remaining is whether they have peaked before October.
They are certainly the boys of summer right now.
