The small change you see today online is a sign of things to come.

We have begun to limit access to the Log Cabin Democrat E-edition.

This access is included in the package for current print subscribers; they only need to “activate” their digital access. We'll refer to subscribers as having an All-Access membership soon.

Others who have enjoyed viewing the E-edition for free will have to buy a monthly digital subscription for $6.95. This digital subscription includes recent back issues. If you have an Apple or Android tablet, a web browser version will be accessible by the end of the month.

If you are a print newspaper subscriber, you only need to set up a username and password. Click on the E-edition link to start, select “Next” and make sure the button for current subscriber is checked. You will need to enter some information twice to ensure a match with our subscription records.

New digital subscribers can use the same process, making sure to select the digital subscription choice.

Activating this membership puts you ahead of things to come.

Additional benefits for subscribers will include an Apple iPad app that mixes multimedia with the page turning experience followed by an Android app to do the same. Premium content for print and online subscribers is being planned this year. Options for the Kindle and Nook are being reviewed.

Our mission of public service mixed with delivering commercial information into the homes of Faulkner County is part of a backbone for civic life and commerce. We also serve to celebrate great moments and remain a historical record for generations to come. Being where, when and how you want us  serves all of this.

Our plans to limit access to some content and to digital replicas of the newspaper aren’t new. This E-edition change brings back something we had, but now is a smaller part of more to come.

The good news is subscribers are “all in” automatically. These changes are part of a reinvestment plan that puts our subscribers first.
