The will of the people to govern themselves through a majority vote cannot stand, according to the United States Department of Justice.
Folks, this is scary. I wasn't aware the DOJ had this authority. Can you imagine the DOJ deciding to overturn a local election in Conway?

So the Democratic controlled federal government overruled a popular vote that would give non-democrats a chance of winning an office in that town? Of course the city leaders don't want to challenge the ruling, they would be forced to stand for who they are, not what party they affiliate themselves with. I'm sure they could argue the 10th amendment all the way to the Supreme Court and win if they appealed.
I would hate to see the reaction if something like this happened in Conway. Even if I was on the losing side of the vote and the DOJ overturned the vote to my favor, I would still be angry at the outside interference.
one more example of the
one more example of the federal gov't run amuck. Maybe when Montana and Tennessee are through challenging the Fed over 10th amendment rights some of this crap will stop.

DOJ
I didn't realize we had cities in this country that were under DOJ jurisidiction in relation to their voting requirements. I would go ballisitic if this was happening in our community...
