Latest from Team Rubicon: What volunteers need to know

Posted: May 12, 2014 - 4:15pm

Faulkner County is calling for volunteers to help with tornado cleanup and recovery. Team Rubicon is reporting a decline in the number of individual "walk-up" volunteers, while church and civic groups continue to come in more regularly. The group is asking for more of both.

The following is a press release issued by Team Rubicon at about 4:05 p.m. today:

In an effort to notify the public of Faulkner County volunteer management efforts, Team Rubicon reports the following. Broadest dissemination requested.

1. The Team Rubicon Volunteer Resource Centers (VRCs) have witnessed a steep and steady decline in the number of spontaneous (walk-up) volunteers over the past eleven days. During that same period, the number of pre-registered volunteer groups have increased.

2. Although Team Rubicon is committed to our mission of volunteer management through Faulkner County, we are more committed to our mission of directly assisting homeowners with cleaning up their properties. Team Rubicon is continuously assessing our distribution of resources and operations to ensure we are mobilized and tasked to best address the needs of affected residents.

3. Beginning Tuesday, May 13, Team Rubicon will consolidate our current VRC personnel in support of completing individual residential work orders, and our VRCs will move to the following schedules for spontaneous volunteer registration and dispatch:

Conway:

 Home Depot

 500 Elsinger Blvd

 Sunday through Friday: 7 a.m to 1 p.m.

 Saturday: 7 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Mayflower:

57 Interstate Drive

Sunday through Friday: CLOSED

Saturday: 7 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Vilonia:

Beryl Baptist Church

873 U.S. Hwy 64B

Sunday through Friday: CLOSED

Saturday: 7 a.m. to 1 p.m.

4. Spontaneous volunteers who wish to support debris removal efforts Sunday through Friday are encouraged to check-in at our Home Depot VRC location.

5. Team Rubicon strongly encourages individuals and groups to pre-register at least 24 hours prior to arrival. This allows for the most efficient and effective use of valuable personnel and time.

Getting pre-registered is easy and fast using the TR Hotline — please call 469-301-1865 at any time. Let us know when to expect you, how many are in your group, and any other special considerations, and we’ll get you set up for a work site.
