Conway promotes Will Johnson to high school boys basketball coach

Will Johnson, who has coached the ninth-grade Conway White team since 2006, is the new boys basketball coach at Conway High.

He succeeds James Bates, who resigned last month.

Johnson's teams won the regular-season ninth-grade conference or tournament championships six times. He previously coached for five years in Cape Girardeau, Mo.

“Coach Johnson is an excellent coach, a solid individual, and a quality hire for our basketball program," said Dr. Greg Murry, superintendant of Conway Public Schools.  "We look forward to exciting games in our arena and many victories ahead.”
