The Department of Music at Hendrix College will host the Arkansas Symphony Orchestra's Rockefeller String Quartet on Friday, Feb. 1 at 7:30 p.m. in Reves Recital Hall.
The program will include:
- Mendelssohn - String Quartet in D Major No. 1, Op. 44
- Glass - String Quartet No. 3 (Mishima)
- Tchaikovsky - String Quartet No. 1 in D Major
The quartet includes Christian Baker and Darby BeDell, violin, Katherine Reynolds, viola, and Daniel Cline, cello.
The Rockefeller String Quartet (or "Rocks" as they call themselves) is the inaugural Quartet in Residence at Hendrix.
The concert coincides with the celebration of the quartet's 10th anniversary as an ensemble with the Arkansas Symphony Orchestra.
In addition to rehearsing and performing at Hendrix, the Rockefeller Quartet will coach and mentor chamber music students at Hendrix, as well as the outreach and individual applied music instruction quartet members Dr. Baker and Cline already perform as adjunct faculty members at Hendrix.
The program is free and open to the public. For more information, contact Hendrix music professor Dr. Karen Griebling at 501-450-1249 or Griebling@hendrix.edu.
